Without adjustment, this vehicle produces leanings of up to 16: 1 AFR in the lower and middle speed range. This leads to the well-known lean jolt and severe afterburning in the silencer during overrun. The problem of poor engine running arises from the changed over-vacuum wave travel time of the exhaust wave, since the catalytic converter is not available.

Due to the missing catalytic converter, this and the returning negative pressure wave in the exhaust system are shortened and hit the still open exhaust valve in the overlap too early. As a result, fresh gas that is already flowing in is sucked into the outlet tract and is missing from the combustion process to generate energy.

The adjustment in this area increases the torque and power curve and the engine running improves overall and the insulation package of the silencer is spared.
